Here Is ROMBANICA – Europe’s Largest Axe
This monumental outdoor sculpture depicts a rombanica (a traditional axe) embedded in a tree stump.
It is the largest sculpture of its kind in Poland and Europe and the second largest in the world.
Measuring 11 meters in length and weighing 4.4 tons, the piece features a massive steel blade weighing 400 kg, standing 280 cm tall and 140 cm long. The wooden handle, crafted from acacia wood, weighs 800 kg, while the stump itself weighs 3.2 tons. The sculpture was designed and created by Polish artists in Kościelisko in 2022.
Located on the slopes of Wierch Skolnity in the Silesian Beskids, near the upper station of the Skolnity chairlift, the axe serves as a striking decorative landmark in the landscape.
